The extra soft sponge is indeed very soft, just as advertised. For me, this softness is more of a downside, but it is still usable. Inside, there is a foam sponge, and the outside is made of microfiber. The fibers come off easily. There is no string attached. The size is small - 8x16 cm. It needs to be squeezed well after use.
