I'm giving it 3 stars because I bought two of these sponges at once. One turned out to be great, with a medium level of stiffness and it exfoliates nicely. The other one, however, is wooden. It doesn't even get wet in water, it just stays as hard as a rock. That's why there are such different reviews - it all depends on your luck.
This sponge is terrible. It's wooden and doesn't bend at all, which makes it impossible to hold in your hand (it doesn't conform to the shape of your palm). I highly advise against it.
This is a great exfoliating sponge. It effectively removes dead skin cells without the need for additional body scrubs. The size is convenient, and it is made with good quality materials. This is my first loofah sponge, and from now on, I will only use this type. Overall, I highly recommend it.
The loofah is perfect for my skin, I have been using loofah sponges for the past few years. This one is great, just the right size for my palm. It does require a lot of gel though, the sponge layer could have been thicker. However, overall, the sponge is well-made. The important thing is not to twist it too much to avoid breaking the fibers. It should be thoroughly rinsed and dried properly.

It is incredibly soft for me. Very, very soft indeed. That's why I use it with a scrub. It's so funny how it puffs up after being dipped in water.
