Tinted Hair Color - La Riche Directions Hair Color
The only downside of this hair dye is that it starts to fade quickly, around 3-4 washes after applying it to my hair. :(
We purchased three cans at once for a complete dye job. It was applied easily and when washed off, the water was clear. The color was very vibrant. However, after 3 days, the color simply washed out. It's not very visible in the photo, but the majority of the hair was left with a bleached color. Extremely disappointed!
I couldn't find any reviews on the Ebony shade, so I'll leave photos before and after using this dye. I apologize for the background and possibly unsuccessful angle.
To be honest, I am not satisfied with the result. My intention was to try a semi-permanent black color because I was tired of vibrant dyeing. Instead, I got green roots (natural roots and the temple area turn warm) and hair with an uncovered violet color. Not a very successful combination in my opinion.
It's also strange that I ordered two jars, one came as 100ml and the other as 88ml. They are the same shade, just different packaging. I'm grateful for the free couple of grams of makeup.
Be prepared that this dye will stain your entire bathroom. The bathtub will be both blue and eggplant-colored. It's very strange how it washes out, when you simply rinse your hair with water, the color turns eggplant, but when you use shampoo, it becomes a saturated blue. I understood that the dye would have an undertone, but this was an interesting experiment.
I have doubts that it will look good even on blondes.
I chose the Neon Blue color. The color is wonderful, everything looks bright and beautiful, but oh my, it fades so easily. It's terrible. Everything gets stained in that blue hue. After washing my hands, ears, neck, clothes, and nails multiple times, it's still there. I can't even scratch an itch peacefully because the dye stays on my hands. No, this is too much.
I have something to compare it with in the same price category. And I can say that this paint is terrible. The pigment doesn't apply evenly. Even on a perfectly bleached base. I don't recommend it to those who want to dye all of their hair, not just strands.
I purchased the Wisteria shade of foundation. What can I say? The instructions state that it works better on bleached hair, but it doesn't mention that it won't work at all on natural hair. Now I look like a leopard, girls! Ready for the weekend!
I tried it for the first time. The hair was beautifully dyed, but there is only one downside - it stains the towel after washing my head (so I have to immediately dry it with a hairdryer). It is an economical consumption for me because I have "hidden coloring" and my hair is below shoulder length. To achieve the desired result, I kept it on my hair for 1 hour. To be honest, after reading negative reviews here, I thought it wouldn't work.
The vermillion red shade has a perfect crimson hue, without any pinkish or fuchsia undertones. I consistently choose this shade as it is the best crimson color I have personally tried across multiple brands.
I really liked the paint overall. I chose the Alpine Green shade, and there are both positives and negatives.
+ The jar is visually small, but it is used economically. It took about 3/4 of the jar for my shoulder-length fluffy hair.
+ It really has no smell.
+ There is a wide palette of unusual shades.
+ The color is rich, although personally, I find this shade too blue, but still nice.
+ Immediately after dyeing, I had a good impression, just like coming out of a salon.
+ Both highlighted strands and all hair were dyed, just as I wanted, so my dark brown color was covered.
+ It does not dry out the hair.
+ The delivery was fine.
- In reality, the paint in the jar is dark turquoise, and the result looks more blue than green, especially outside where it appears as a bright blue. Then it starts to unevenly fade into a more greenish shade. It's a shame that after the first wash, there are patches. Now I have warm green and almost blue in different areas, even though the base is uniform and clean. I understand that it will probably fade from the unbleached strands on the fourth or fifth wash.
- During the washing off process, there is an endless flow of heavily saturated water, and even when washing the hair, the bathtub gets heavily and persistently stained.
- Completely dried hair heavily stains the pillowcase, and one wash does not remove the stain. It's summer now, and if I go out with my hair down in 25-27°C, my neck, shoulders, a thin layer on my face, and the neckline of my shirt get stained.
- With such drawbacks regarding wearability, the price is quite high (399 UAH, not from the EU). There are no gloves included, and the instructions on the lid are small. It was inconvenient for me that I couldn't immediately use a brush if the jar was wider, or I had to find a very narrow brush. I would also like an explanation as to why the instructions on the lid state not to use conditioner/balm, even though the paint does not dry out the hair. It would have been nice to revive it a little.
I will see how it fades, and I think I can prevent the pillow issue by knowing and wearing my hair up for the first few washes. The staining on the body will probably go away. If it didn't dye everything at once, it would have been 5 stars. I will probably buy it again, I really liked the comment with the lime yellow-green result a bit lower, so I want to try the same. I will update my review later.
I have been using this hair dye for a long time and I really like it. The color is always vibrant and it lasts on my hair for 2-3 weeks.
I bought the color plum.
I purchased it based on the reviews, and I was absolutely thrilled and in love!!!
I applied it to pre-lightened hair.
Delightful! The key is to follow the instructions and everything works out. I kept the dye on my hair for 2.5-3 hours. I am satisfied with the result. If you want a doll-like pink color, then go for the shade Carise. Violet is also great.
This paint is amazing! It restored my hair after using Estel. I use the blue-violet range: Lilac, Violet, Blue. It works well for both coloring and toning hair after color removal. I highly recommend it!
I have been using this paint for two years, and I absolutely love it.
Once again, I am convinced that this is the best paint in its segment. I constantly use the color tangerine and I am very satisfied with the quality of my hair, as well as the color and durability. From my experiments, I have had positive impressions of apricot, plum, lilac, and violet. However, vermilion red and flame color did not work well.
It is evenly applied, but it dries out porous hair. I do not recommend it.
I purchased a hair lightener and the vermilion red color paint. It was quickly delivered to my home by a courier. The solution looks very dark in the container due to its high concentration, like a dark cherry with a black crust. The jar is small, but I only needed a third of it for my not very thick, 30 cm long hair for ombre. My friend and I dyed our hair at home, without professional help. After bleaching (which we had to do multiple times because my natural chestnut color didn't lighten well, and we were only able to achieve a yellowish shade), we mixed the paint with hair balm and left it on for about an hour. I really liked the result, although the photos taken two weeks later appear slightly brighter than in reality. I spent a long time choosing the color as there were many options for red, but I wanted to avoid any reddish, violet, or pink undertones.
The hair dye for lightened hair did not take at all. It gave a barely noticeable shade that washed out after the first hair wash. However, since everyone's experience may vary, I cannot discourage anyone from purchasing it. I used another shade from the same brand, flamingo pink, and it worked perfectly, the color did not fade for a long time. But this particular shade was a 200% disappointment.
Overall, I chose the shade Violet. This is my first time using this brand, and I would like to describe my impression. So, the package arrived very quickly (thank you so much makeup.com), despite there being many questions about the products. The customer service on the website was great and very professional, so thank you once again.
Now about the hair dye: I bought 2 different brands for ombre coloring. On the top, I used Joanna Hair Color Multi Cream Color (shade 37) (please change the picture to this shade, as it appears brown on the website but in reality, it is a dark pink, closer to eggplant. There were many questions about this, but the specialists helped me). On the bottom, I used La Riche Directions Hair Color (Violet).
My friend, who did the coloring, was pleasantly surprised by La Riche. She said that the dye spreads well on the hair and is enough to cover the entire length (which is shoulder length in this case). Since this is ombre, we decided to use 2 different dyes to create a smooth transition.
La Riche is very pleasant, smells good, and washes off easily from objects and the skin. Due to frequent dyeing and numerous experiments, my hair had become slightly dry, but the dye did not damage it. On the contrary, it strengthened and made it more manageable, which surprised me.
Overall, I still have half a jar left, which is enough for the entire head if the length is shoulder length. I will also upload a photo with Violet at the bottom. Thank you Makeup for the opportunity to try absolutely any colors from any country. I am satisfied with everything. 5/5.
I bought the Apricot hair dye here. It did not work well on my perfectly prepared, lightened hair. The color barely showed up. Instead of a vibrant shade, it turned out pastel. I left it on for 30 minutes.
The paint gave a subtle pink shade to my blonde hair, but it immediately washed out. I purchased a pastel pink shade.
In May 2016, I bought this violet color hair dye. I applied it to previously bleached hair (root bleached with powder, length bleached with blonde 10P). The color turned out very beautiful and vibrant, and I was happy with it for a week. However, it started to fade quickly afterwards. I washed my hair twice a week to maintain the color, and my hair doesn't get oily easily. After three weeks, the color had almost completely faded, leaving a slight lavender shade. In June, I bought the shade plum since violet was not available. The color turned out the same as violet, but I noticed some inconsistency in the pigment of the dye itself. There were visible particles resembling blue and pink sand. A week later, it started to fade beautifully. My hair had a cosmic look, with violet roots and a blue-green length. This was all due to uneven bleaching. So, girls, make sure to bleach even if you have blonde powder, otherwise the color will turn out differently. It has been 5 months now, and after 4 washes and re-bleaching with lightening powder, I still have a yellow-minty tint on my hair that seems impossible to remove. When I try to dye my hair brown, it becomes dirty and muddy. I am attaching photos of the dyeing process.
I read reviews and I'm amazed. People who are dissatisfied, what similar paint did you use before? What are you comparing it to? I've tried a bunch of different "rainbow" paints: Punky Colours, Manic Panic, Adore, Directions, Tonic, Nottaton, Rockcolor, Colorista, Anthocyanin. They all have their pros and cons. The first four (priced from 250 to 400, depending on the website) are convenient for self-use, have a wide range of colors, but are quite expensive. They all require careful application, specifically they all need to be well foamed, and the rule for all is that the brighter the color, the more long-lasting it is. All manufacturers' pastel shades wash out faster because they contain less dye (surprise!). Tonic, Nottaton, and Rockcolor are super awesome and they have three to four colors that are "non-standard". Tonic has intense blue and violet, they dye intensely, are difficult to wash out, but they are uneven and they "lay on the hair as God sends". Nottaton has pink and fuchsia, Rockcolor has burgundy, and they take on a brighter pink shade. And again, they are like God sends. In general, the only plus is that they are cheap (well, and long-lasting, but not everywhere, they mostly wash out in patches). It's a bit problematic to use Anthocyanin at home, it needs to be heated well (but that's for me), I was colored with it in a salon that has specialized in creative coloring with this dye for about 5 years. The color in the salon turned out to be perfect. But I spent 6-9 hours there and paid 900-1200 UAH. And it didn't always turn out perfectly from the first time, after removing the old dye and lightening, even there the first color application was uneven and they had to touch up. Recently, I tried Colorista, it's relatively good, washes out faster than Directions, but it's also twice as cheap. Every dye has its pros and cons. Everyone has different hair, and everyone follows the coloring process differently. Don't criticize anything if it didn't work for you. The dye is great, I want to buy more for New Year's. "Colorful" dye is like Pokémon - you need to collect them all.))))
The volume is very small, but I am satisfied with the paint.
Thank you to the girl who suggested a life hack for blondes: Neon Blue on the tip of a knife into the hair balm. Or it's better to simply dilute it with water a little and pour it onto shampooed hair, leave it for a while, rinse, and then apply regular balm. It results in a beautiful ashy blonde.
Before that, I tried gray and white shades. The gray one didn't give any results at all.
Brand - 4, Mandarin shade - 1 point.
Why? Let me explain.
During the winter, I bought the Alpin Green color (from another website), expecting to get a green shade (based on the name). I applied it to completely bleached strands and ended up with blue hair. It turned out that it was my own fault - to achieve the desired green, I should have bleached my hair to a yellow color, not thoroughly. Overall, I was satisfied with the result. The jar lasted for half a year, during which I dyed my strands every month and a half. Surprisingly, Alpin Green turned out to be a long-lasting color and faded beautifully and evenly, becoming minty.
Then, in early September, I ordered the Mandarin shade here, on Makeup. I was expecting a bright orange color! But I got red instead! I kind of liked it... But after the first hair wash, the strands turned reddish-yellow (the color washed out unevenly), and after the second wash, my hair had an intense lemon color! From red to pure lemon in just two and a half days! Can you imagine?
Moreover, the green dye easily stained everything it accidentally touched: furniture, gloves, scalp, while the orange one didn't stain anything at all - a quick wipe with a dry tissue and it was gone.
So, the conclusion is that cold shades (green, blue, purple) of the dye are long-lasting and worth considering, but it's better to avoid yellow, red, and orange shades to avoid stress.
I bought two colors, Violet and Flamingo Pink. I dyed the roots in purple and the ends in pink on my bleached blond hair. However, after the first wash, most of the color washed out. After four times, the pink was completely gone, and there were some bluish tones left at the roots (which didn't look too terrible, to be honest).
Before purchasing, I conducted an experiment. I cut a strand of hair, dyed it in these two colors, and left it on the shelf. After a week, the dye either faded or evaporated, as there was no color left at all.
For the second attempt, I dyed my hair pink on already bleached hair. After a couple of days, the color itself faded in some areas. And when washing my hair, it washes out very quickly.
A Waste of Money. I purchased it in pastel pink. It only gave a slight tint to my twice-bleached hair at the roots. That's it. I even left the dye on for 1.5 hours instead of the recommended 15 minutes. The amount is extremely small. I barely had enough 89ml to dye my shoulder-length hair, and my hair is not thick. Special thanks to makeup for providing incorrect delivery date information, which caused us to have to search for each other with the courier (no issues with the courier himself).
I ordered some paint and I am very satisfied with my order. They sent it earlier than promised and even included a face mask.
I decided to try Directions as an alternative to anthocyanin, and I haven't regretted it so far. After the first application, my hair was splotchy, so I decided to study the instructions more thoroughly to fix any mistakes. Here are some tips:
1. The dye should only be applied to wet hair. Beforehand, you need to wash your hair 2-3 times with a deep cleansing shampoo or a regular one, but make sure to thoroughly rinse your hair. 2-in-1 shampoos are not suitable.
2. It's better to apply the dye to small sections of hair using a narrow brush and immediately comb through the hair to ensure even distribution of the dye.
3. Once the entire head is covered in dye, sit comfortably and start combing the hair methodically. Comb in all directions, with different strokes, up and down, left and right, until you notice that all the hair is covered in a fine foam. Once it appears, leave it on for thirty minutes to an hour, and then dry your hair with a blow dryer, combing it during the drying process.
Once the hair has cooled down, rinse it off. The dye can be easily removed from the skin with micellar water.
I purchased the Flame color, which is bright red, and the Bright Daffodil color, which is a vibrant yellow. However, when I applied these colors to my lightened hair and left them on for a long time, they were completely invisible. Instead of the advertised colors, I ended up with a rusty red shade and a very pale imitation of wheat color. I was hoping for a very vibrant result, especially considering the high price of this dye. Unfortunately, the outcome was extremely disappointing.
This is a very good and vibrant hair dye. It should only be applied to bleached hair. For hair that reaches the waist, you will need 4-5 jars. I do not recommend washing the dye off while in the bathtub - you will have a hard time getting it off yourself and the bathtub afterwards :) For the first two weeks, the dye will stain everything it touches, and the water in the bathtub will be multicolored for 1-1.5 months after washing your hair.
I have been using the Cerise color for a month, and it holds up well. I use the "Shampoo for preserving color-treated hair" and the "Intensively restoring mask for weakened hair" from Matrix. The shampoo doesn't wash out much color, but the areas where I applied the mask have noticeably faded faster.
