  • How to use
  • STREP A is an immunochromatographic test designed to detect the presence of specific Streptococcus A antigens using antibodies conjugated with gold, which are integrated into the reactive strip.

  • 1. Wash your hands with hot water and soap, rinse with clean water, and dry them.

    2. Set up your workstation on a flat, dry, and clean surface. Place an empty plastic tube in one of the workstation's slots.

    3. Sample Collection:

    - Open the box with the lower tab, keeping it inside without pulling it out, and place it beside you;

    - Open the box containing the sterile swab, avoiding contact with the cotton tip, and remove it by holding the plastic handle;

    - Stand in front of a mirror, tilt your head back, and open your mouth as wide as possible;

    - Use one hand to hold the lower part of your tongue to straighten it;

    - With the other hand, bring the swab to your throat and gently touch the back of your throat, around the tonsils, and any red or sore areas (soft side 1, corner 2). It is recommended to rotate the swab to collect a larger sample. If you have difficulty, ask someone to assist you with this step.

    4. After collecting the sample, insert the swab into the provided plastic tube that you previously placed on the workstation.

    5. Open the STREP A TEST - R1 bottle by unscrewing only the blue cap (keep the white part tightly closed), then add 4 drops into the tube and close the cap.

    6. Next, open the STREP A TEST - R2 bottle by unscrewing only the green cap (keep the white part tightly closed), then add 4 drops into the tube and close the cap.

    ATTENTION: Adding R2 to R1 creates a solution for which the instructions in points 8 and 9 of the "precautions" apply.

    7. Holding the swab by the plastic handle, rotate it thoroughly against the tube walls about 10 times to mix the solution. Leave the swab in the tube for 2–5 minutes to incubate.

    8. After the incubation period, remove the tube from the workstation (with the swab and extraction liquid inside) and, using your thumb and index finger, press the tube's sides to squeeze out the cotton tip of the swab, collecting as much liquid as possible inside the tube, and remove the swab itself.

    Dispose of the buffer in the waste container according to local regulations and place the tube back into one of the workstation's slots.

    9. Insert the provided pipette into the plastic tube.

    10. Drop 1 drop into the well of the box.

    Note: If the drop contains air bubbles, please squeeze a second drop into the well.
