After insertion, the cup will open with a characteristic suction or popping sound, indicating it has been correctly positioned. If you're unsure, feel the bottom of the cup—it should be round or oval when properly inserted. If you notice dents or folds, it hasn't fully opened. Gently grasp the base of the cup (not the stem) and try to rotate it to create a suction seal.
