Tranexamic Acid (TXA) is a synthetic analog of lysine. Tranexamic Acid does not affect healthy skin unless it is exposed to sunlight. This is achieved by preventing the activation of melanocytes upon contact with solar radiation, reducing tyrosinase activity in melanocytes, or inhibiting melanogenesis.
Tranexamic Acid not only limits the development of pigmentation but also reduces the risk of recurrence. It has the ability to lighten pigmentation resulting from hormonal imbalances, inflammation, the use of certain medications, and UV radiation.

Use at home only if you have received special training in the use of aggressive cosmetic acids. Please read the safety data sheet available from the manufacturer. Avoid tanning and prolonged sun exposure to prevent skin discoloration. The acid can be applied topically to the skin in the form of a 2% emulsion, a 3% cream, or a 5% solution.
