1. Apply a small amount of toothpaste to your brush and position it at a 45-degree angle to the gum line. Half of the bristles should be on the gum and the other half on the teeth. Brush your teeth using gentle, circular motions without applying too much pressure.
2. Start by brushing the outer surfaces of your teeth. Use circular motions to slowly move the brush from your molars to your front teeth, and then to the molars on the other side of your mouth.
3. Next, brush the inner surfaces of your teeth. Begin at the back of your mouth and use circular motions to move the brush towards the opposite molars.
4. To clean the inner surfaces of your upper and lower front teeth, hold the brush vertically and use small circular motions. Brush the chewing surfaces by moving the brush back and forth.
5. Thoroughly clean your upper and lower molars — the last teeth in the arch — by holding the brush vertically and making small circular motions around the last tooth.
