Facial Clay – A Mineral Treasure in Your Cosmetic Bag
We could write extensively about the origins of clay, but we prefer specifics, so here’s a brief overview. Clays are extracted from the earth's depths, formed through numerous chemical, biological, and geological processes. The most valuable is found deepest within.
Each type of facial clay – and there are many – is rich in trace elements like magnesium, calcium, iron, and silicon. These minerals in clays are easily absorbed, which explains their popularity in natural skincare. They are effectively used in various cosmetic products such as creams, soaps, shampoos, and even body scrubs and bath salts. They also work wonderfully on their own.
French Green Clay is a true treasure trove of silicon and potassium. It excellently cleanses, regulates oil secretion, and treats inflammation. The mask also provides astringent and antibacterial effects.
Undoubtedly, it is one of the classic natural care products, an ingredient in many cosmetics, and an indispensable item in many cosmetic bags. There is no magic in the action of green clay. Its properties are supported by a whole arsenal of valuable trace elements: silicon, magnesium, calcium, potassium, sodium, zinc, manganese, and selenium.
It is successfully used as a face mask: cleansing, detoxifying, and tightening pores.
If you have oily or combination skin prone to irritation, you can use green clay only on the "T-zone." You can also mix green clay with something gentler, like apricot clay. Any proportions you prefer!
-
You can mix the clay with water or hydrosol. Add a few drops of your favorite oil, serum, or even yogurt to the mask. It's important to prevent the clay from drying out on your face – spray it with water or hydrosol to keep it moist. Different types of facial clays can be mixed together.
Perfect base for a cleansing face mask:
Mix one tablespoon of green clay with your favorite hydrosol and 2–3 drops of your chosen oil until you get a paste-like consistency. Apply the mask evenly on your face. Rinse off after 10 minutes. Remember to keep the mask from drying out – spraying your face with hydrosol will help. The combination of green clay and hydrosol can also be used as a mask for oily scalp.
Store in a dry, shaded place. Avoid contact with eyes. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.
