I bought this for my boyfriend. He has had this problem since childhood, biting his nails down to the cuticles, it's painful to watch. This product helps, it's very bitter, it even transfers through kisses))) It's so bitter that it instills fear of bringing hands to the mouth, afterward the mouth needs to be washed with soap, it's better to eat with gloves (if you can't do without utensils alone). - I removed anything that he could find on his fingers to bite. - I gave him gum. When there were moments of stress or any "nervous" situations, I would simply give him gum to chew. It diverted his attention, and he would stretch it with his fingers and chew on it, but he wouldn't bite his nails.
- Keys, toys, anything in his hands. Fine motor skill games. If he put his fingers in his mouth, I would take something in my hands or quickly give him something to hold.

- I gave him chewing gum. Whenever he was stressed or had any "nervous" moments, I would just put a piece of gum in his mouth. It diverted his attention, he would stretch it with his fingers, chew it, but he wouldn't bite his nails.
- I provided keys, toys, anything he could hold in his hands. Activities that develop fine motor skills. If he put his fingers in his mouth, I would hold his hands or quickly give him something to hold.
- Relax, let go, and consistently follow these steps.
All of this together, over 1.5 months, had an effect - yesterday evening, I trimmed his nails for the first time. I am writing this calmly now, but every day when I look at his little fingers, I want to cry.
This habit quickly becomes established - don't waste any time. Don't get nervous or scold the child - it won't have any effect.
Just do everything you can to prevent the child from feeling the need to bite - take care of their fingers, keep their hands busy, occupy their mouth, distract their thoughts.

Regarding the nail polish - it was a great find as part of the overall approach. I will repeat that it is really unattractive. It has the texture of regular nail polish. If you don't bite, it lasts a long time. I recommend applying it frequently during active nail biting.
