Ozokerite is a natural substance of petroleum origin. When warm, it resembles wax. Upon extraction, the substance can have either a waxy texture or appear as a solid dark mass similar to gypsum. It is used for medical purposes in sanatoriums and rehabilitation centers.

Due to its high melting point and low thermal conductivity, compresses made from this substance by the brand "Dr. Pirogov's Laboratory" help improve blood circulation, metabolism, and tissue regeneration, enhancing immunity. Ozokerite therapy is indicated for inflammatory processes in the joints (arthritis, arthrosis), chronic radiculitis, contractures, osteochondrosis, and neuritis.
