Unscrew the lid. Dip one end of the stick into the oil. The sticks have many microscopic channels that absorb the oil and push it towards the top of the reed. I am disappointed with this purchase. The grape juice scent has a chemical smell to it. I placed it in my bathroom, but I can't smell any fragrance at all, even though I used all the sticks. Don't waste your money on this.
