It turned out that I had this problem when I started doing pedicures with shellac or gel! Once I removed the gel to let my nails "rest" - and voila! My fingers stopped hurting, I went through the winter without nail polish on my toenails, and gradually the problem went away!! I have heard this before as well. But I still occasionally use the drops on my nails. Don't use shellac!! Just use regular nail polish. Stay healthy!
