The hold is strong enough, but not overly stiff, so you can still comb your hair afterwards if needed. The scent upon spraying is quite unpleasant, typical of hair sprays, but it dissipates quickly once on the hair. I only smell the shampoo and mask scent! We didn't fall in love with this nail polish, but it didn't end up in the trash either. I would give it a solid 4 out of 5.
