I bought this product for my 1.6-year-old daughter. I only applied it to her legs when we were at the beach. I also made sure to dress her in a hat with wide brims, a light long-sleeved shirt, and underwear. I agree that it's important for children to spend minimal time in the sun. However, I can say that the scent is very pleasant, I would even say it's a "delicious" scent. It's reminiscent of either fruity candy or tasty chewing gum. I might not have described it very clearly, but it's a very enjoyable scent.
