A bold, velvety blend of mineral wood with a hint of bitterness, smoky undertones, and a touch of spicy sparks. This is how the creators of the Amouage brand describe the Purpose Eau de Parfum. Its scent, reminiscent of shamanic chants, evokes a sense of tranquility while encouraging introspection about one's roots. The fragrance is unique, with a powerful and wild aura, making it perfect for rugged personas.
Top Note offers the first and last breath of cool air. It features invigorating bergamot, aromatic pink pepper, subtly pricking red pepper berries, and magical incense.
Heart Note unveils a smoky veil of earthy vetiver and sweet rose. Gradually, this duo is replaced by earthy and moist nuances of papyrus intertwined with silky sandalwood.
Base Note resonates with a pure blend of aldehydic Mystikal and Akigalawood, reminiscent of burning olibanum and fresh wood. Suede and saffron flow in the background with a powerful leathery accord, leaving an animalistic trail.
For me, there is frankincense and vetiver in here. I compare it to a brutal and dark aroma in the Boys Imperial Dark Edition. The trail and longevity are out of this world, just like Boys Imperial. Quentin Bisch production.
The fragrance is not for everyday wear, it is strong. It is perfect for evening outings, but might be too intense for men.
I will supplement the review. I wore it both outdoors and in the office. The weather was cool. On my skin, it was almost a monoscent of leather (sorry for the pun). More precisely, leather and papyrus. The scent from the blotter was deep and intriguing, with a floral heart overshadowing the powerful leather accord. However, on my skin, it lasted for about 10 hours and never fully developed, I couldn't detect any pepper. It is somewhat similar to Ganymede, but the latter really opens up beautifully on me. I thought Purpose would surpass Ganymede, but it seems not. It is very long-lasting on the skin and leaves a noticeable trail. On clothes, it is eternal and still noticeable even after thorough washing. I will set aside the sample until spring and give it another chance.
I received a sample today and will be testing it. From the first breath, I can sense the vibes of Ganymede with an intensified leathery-suede note. I feel a lot of pepper, fresh and oh, it tickles my nostrils. However, the incense is still hiding from me. I also catch a faint hint of rose.
This is not exactly Ganymede, but it's heading in that direction and I instantly recognize Bisha's signature.
Well, that's the lyrical part. The perfume smells fresh and intriguing, I liked it from the first breath, so to speak. ❤️
