Wipe the skin with a pre-depilation lotion or gel to remove any oils and dry flakes. If the area is not very sweaty (such as the legs or arms), you can skip using talcum powder. However, if the room is hot, talcum powder is necessary even in these areas. Once the skin has dried, apply an absorbent product. Use a spatula to take some paste and spread it over the area in a thin layer against the direction of hair growth. Remove the paste with the spatula in the direction of hair growth—use one hand to stretch the skin and the other to pull the paste off in the opposite direction. If using the manual technique, the same steps apply but without the spatula. For easier removal from the jar, you can slightly warm the paste using a water bath or microwave.
