I recently purchased this product, so I cannot say how many pencils it will sharpen. However, all the pencils I have sharpened so far have been excellent. The shavings are thin and none of the leads have broken. The discounted price for this item is simply a gift! The only downside is that the container attachment for waste is weak and loose, so I removed it. However, this does not affect its performance in any way.
