Potassium alum is known and used since antiquity. Thousands of years ago, every person had an alum. It was used in case of minor cuts while shaving. Alum has hypoallergenic properties, neutralizes the unpleasant odor of sweat, and does not stain clothes. After application, it leaves an invisible barrier of mineral salts on the skin, which inhibits the growth of bacteria that cause unpleasant odors. Alum does not block perspiration, but eliminates its unpleasant odor. Bacteria living on our skin cause bad smell, alum prevents bacteria from multiplying and thus reduces bad smell.
