The shampoo didn't work for me; after using it, my hair became extremely dry, like straw. My dark chestnut hair even started to have a reddish tint.
It suited me perfectly! It really doesn't wash out the dye, the blue color definitely fades no more than if I were to wash my hair with water, and it delighted me for a long, long time with its beautiful blue shade on my head. Pure bliss!
As for the downsides: the dye in the shampoo itself is very intense (it's not a soft pink like in the photo, but actually a dark raspberry color, like a berry) and this dye tends to stain the wall if you hang the shampoo to dry on a hook or the bag where I stored the shampoo. This dye, of course, washes off easily, but there is that little detail to consider.
