Before first use, sterilize the cup in boiling water for 3-5 minutes. Make sure to wash your hands with soap beforehand. The cup will open with a characteristic suction or popping sound, indicating that it has been properly positioned. If you're unsure, feel the base of the cup - it should be round or oval when correctly inserted. If you notice dents or folds, the cup hasn't fully opened. Carefully grasp the base of the cup (not the stem) and try to twist it to create a suction seal. Once it's in place, gently pull on the stem; if you feel resistance, the suction is established, and the cup is successfully positioned!
