It took me some time, but I eventually grew to love it. It dissolves makeup well and cleanses effectively, although I find it necessary to do an additional cleansing with a face wash gel after using the balm. My skin type is close to oily. This is already my second time purchasing it, and I have no plans to switch to a different product.
For me, it turned out to be too comedogenic (horribly clogging the pores). Therefore, I do not recommend it for those who are prone to this.
I tried this balm and here's what I can say about it.
Advantages:
✅ Affordable price compared to other hydrophilic products.
✅ It does its job: cleanses the skin, removes makeup and sunscreen.
✅ Economical to use.
✅ Non-comedogenic (if thoroughly rinsed).
✅ Decent ingredients.
✅ Suitable for removing sun protection from the body.
Disadvantages:
❌ Consistency: the balm should soften and turn into oil when warmed, but it doesn't always work that way.
❌ Not very comfortable on the skin during cleansing. It is also difficult to rinse off. It feels like you're rinsing off regular vegetable oil.
❌ Requires thorough rinsing. Unlike hydrophilic products like Celimax and Beauty of Joseon (although they have a different format and application method), it doesn't emulsify well upon contact with water. You have to rinse it off using a cleanser several times (poor rinsing can lead to clogged pores and breakouts).
UPD: It's more comfortable to rinse off with a damp cloth, but it still has its nuances: it still means rubbing the skin, so it's not suitable for those with problematic/sensitive skin.
My rating: 6/10
My conclusion: It's better to pay more and buy a quality cleanser. Hydrophilic products have low consumption, so one good hydrophilic cleanser will last a long time. If the budget is extremely limited, it can be an option.
I assume that this product may work better for dry/normal skin. For sensitive and problematic skin, it should be used with caution and/or not on a regular basis due to difficulties with rinsing (it can irritate the skin and spread breakouts). Oily and combination skin may also find it suitable.
This product didn't work well for me, although I do like other products from this manufacturer.
I really liked this product! It removes makeup effortlessly! Afterwards, you need to wash your face with gel or foam. It feels pleasant to touch and smells delicious! No breakouts appeared!
It really does a great job of removing makeup if you follow the instructions carefully, then wipe off any residue with a dry towel, and later wash your face with your usual cleanser. Everything is good, BUT it seems to me that this balm turned out to be comedogenic for me. I ordered it not from Makeup, but from an offline store in Britain, but I decided to leave a review.
I bought this product a while ago and accidentally stumbled upon this page again, realizing that I hadn't left a review, which is definitely necessary.
1. This product is NOT THE USUAL HYDROPHILIC BALM/OIL that everyone is used to!
Makeup, please urgently add a usage method in the description, as there seems to be an issue with how to apply it according to other buyers. The tube does provide instructions, but it seems that not everyone pays attention to them because they are familiar with a different way of using hydrophiles.
2. Until the description is updated, I will leave here HOW TO USE IT.
== With dry hands and on dry skin, massage for 30 seconds and (CAUTION!) wipe off with a warm damp towel! ==
This means it will not work if rinsed with water.
3. If everything is done according to the instructions, there are no complaints about the product in principle. But... due to its unusual form and method, this product "didn't work" for me, so I went back to using balms.
I do not recommend this product! It does not emulsify well and does a poor job of removing makeup. There are much better hydrophilic oils and balms available for the same price.
It has a citrus scent, which is the only positive aspect of it. However, it performs very poorly in terms of removing waterproof makeup, as the mascara leaves stains on the face. I also noticed that the consistency changes from thick to liquid over time, and this is all within the packaging. I have never experienced this with similar products in jars. I gave it a rating of 2 out of 5 for the scent and price, and that's about it. I won't be buying it again, as I'd rather pay more and get the balm from Heimish.
It has a pleasant smell and is economical to use. Suitable for combination skin that tends to be oily. However, it didn't handle the task very well, as it didn't completely remove non-waterproof mascara and there wasn't enough emulsion. After using it, it is necessary to use a cleansing gel as there is still a slight greasiness. I will go back to using haimish again, which proved to be significantly better.
I didn't order this here, but I'd like to leave a review. The balm disappointed me, the only positive thing is the pleasant smell. It's very thick, it seems to remove makeup, but it's very difficult to wash off, it's almost impossible to remove, it leaves a film-like residue. I agree with the comment below - heimish is much better, you won't regret it.
I expected more from this product. It does not remove mascara well, even though it is stated that it is not intended for the eyes. If it is a hydrophilic balm, I would like it to cover this aspect as well.
When rinsed with water, it feels like smearing vegetable oil on the face.
Over time, it turns into a mush when squeezed out.
I also immediately wash it off with a gel because it does not come off with water at all.
It is better to buy the Heimish Face Balm instead.
I am a big fan of this brand, but this is the first product that missed the mark for me. I have been using hydrophilic cleansers for a long time and have something to compare it to. It is not the best option for combination skin because it doesn't give me that emulsifying effect when washing with water, leaving a greasy film on my face. It didn't exactly cause breakouts, but the sensation is not the most comfortable. Of course, I use a cleansing gel as a second step. On the plus side, it has a pleasant citrus scent, a little goes a long way, and it really removes SPF and makeup. I think people with dry skin will appreciate it, but I won't repurchase it.
This is my first hydrophilic balm, as I have only used oils before. It has a pleasant texture and a citrus scent. One pea-sized amount of balm is enough for one use. It is important to apply the balm with dry hands to prevent the components from emulsifying in your hands. When it comes into contact with water, like all hydrophilic products, it transforms into a light emulsion. It does a great job of removing makeup and cleansing, which is its main function. It is an excellent product for its price.
