Great product, I have fair skin and it looks natural and replaces a trip to the tanning salon. I recommend it. The scent is long-lasting and pleasant!
I have been using self-tanners regularly for years. I have probably tried most self-tanners on the market, from budget to luxury brands. My skin is very fair but not dry.
The texture is liquid, even slightly oily. It spreads perfectly in seconds when applied with hands. There is no need to try to rub or blend it in, it is the ideal texture for me. If you have trouble applying it evenly, using a mitt for mousse self-tanners can help. I don't understand how anyone can't apply something evenly with a mitt...
The scent is a natural cocoa smell. If applied a couple of hours before bed, the self-tan scent does not have time to develop. Personally, I think the combination of the cocoa/coffee scent with the self-tan smell (like Lirene coffee) is pleasant, I don't see any problem with it. Compared to other self-tanners, I don't even notice the scent of this one. In the morning, both my clothes and body smell like cocoa. That's it. Obviously, if the smell of cocoa/chocolate bothers you, then Palmers is not for you.
There are no streaks left anywhere. If compared to mousses that require washing everything and everything still smells like self-tan, then this one is perfect. The white sheets remained white.
The color is the only thing that slightly disappointed me. Previously, I consistently used St. Moriz Dark, which was not at all reddish and quite dark. Here, it is somewhat reddish and light. But since it is a gradual tanning lotion, I have no complaints.
I don't know how it will fade yet. But I am confident that with proper care, it will fade smoothly like the others. I use it 1-2 times a week.
Some compare it to Dove. Dove has shimmer and a different composition. I want to believe that Palmers is less harmful, if not beneficial, for the skin. It doesn't dry out my skin. The scent of Dove is distinctively Dove. Well, the texture of Dove is thicker, making it harder to apply and distribute. The color is probably similar though.
If you specifically want a self-tanner, this is not for you. It won't give you the desired color in one application. I'm not sure if it will even give the desired color after multiple uses. However, if you are looking for a good skincare product with self-tan as a bonus and you know how to use it and love this brand, you will appreciate it. It is a good product. I think I will buy it again, even just for the scent and easy (for me) application.
Horrible self-tanner. I bought it based on a friend's recommendation.
1- The smell is incredibly unpleasant, like burnt skin.
2- I applied it after my evening shower, and woke up with patches all over.
3- The smell is so strong that it permeates my clothes and bedding.
The only positive thing is that the color is somewhat nice, despite streaks.
I will try other self-tanners.
