My experience with using balms is limited, but this particular product leaves a lingering greasy sensation despite the incredibly small amount applied. Even on hands, it takes a long time to absorb, and the scent resembles some kind of soap, which can be slightly irritating. However, considering that the main purpose is to soften, it does have an effect. There is no holding power. In the end, it resembles more of a beard oil, but in a different form.
