If you simply take it directly from the jar and apply it to wet or dry hair, the result will be dull-looking hair. Here's how I use it: I take a small amount of this mask and spread it in my palms, then I briefly run it under the water, effectively mixing it a little with water, and then I apply it to damp hair with pressing motions and gently pat my hair with a towel using the same pressing motions. This method helps my hair form defined, natural curls, making them look more hydrated, nourished, and smelling very pleasant. I definitely recommend it, but you need to experiment with the application.
