The fragrance of Serge Lutens La Religieuse captures the mysteriousness and complexity inherent to this religious spirit, embodying both the purity of a soul, akin to white flower petals, and the darkness of a dense night, the cloak in which she hides. This perfume is a symphony of contrasts, contradictions, and the unification of elements that seem impossible to combine.
The initial chord of the fragrance pyramid gently resonates with a honeyed overtone of regal jasmine. At the heart of the perfume composition, one can sense the animalistic shades of rich civet. The intoxicating trail of the scented water leaves behind a captivating aftertaste with smoky tones of enveloping frankincense with balsamic nuances and the sensual subtleties of powdery musk.
If we were to associate the aroma with a color, it would be a violet-gray. I purchased it as a winter fragrance. There isn't too much animalistic scent on my skin - it doesn't become overpowering. Although there is a hint of something wooly. One time, I overdid it and got a headache. So it needs to be applied in moderation. The fragrance is quite compact, the sillage is not overwhelming. It's unlikely to annoy anyone. But I was surprised when I applied it to myself in the evening during the summer heat. The aroma completely changed, becoming more transparent. It smelled like chewing gum or children's toothpaste - a slight playfulness even emerged, with a moderate sweetness and notes of jasmine. This is definitely not an everyday perfume. It can quickly become tiresome. But if you're looking for something unusual - unisex and non-girly - then it's perfect for you. The scent is slightly different on male skin. The bottle lasts a long time. Mine is waiting for warmer weather. It needs some time to settle after a journey. It lasts for 3-4 hours. I give it a solid 4.
I didn't buy it here, but I want to share my impression. The first thought after applying it was that this couldn't be Serge Lutens, as most of the master's creations are complex, sometimes even heavy to perceive (but that's why I love them even more))). However, this perfume wraps you in a light cloud of jasmine, I can't detect civet, maybe because I don't know how it sounds, then musk, pure, white, and then incense... In the end, everything together sounds very harmonious, the scent is perfect for everyday wear and any time of the year. It lasts for a solid 4 hours, I will enjoy using it!
