The aristocratic nature of a lady is primarily manifested in her exquisite manners. Iron composure, delicate facial features, gentle gestures, and a voice as soft as a babbling brook—this is the harmonious image of a modern lady. The finishing touch to such a charming appearance can be provided by Kobako eau de toilette from the renowned French brand Bourjois. Created by the perfumer Ernest Beaux in the distant year of 1982, it continues to remain relevant to this day.
Enthusiasts of fine fragrances are also drawn to the luxurious, elegantly designed bottle, worthy of becoming a highlight in your collection. The rich fougère composition starts with the warming spice of a winter cocktail of cinnamon and citrus, softly highlighted by aldehydes. The “heart” of the creation unfolds in a spring bouquet of the tenderest jasmine and mysterious irises, refined lilies and mystical gardenias, aromatic magnolias, and velvety roses. In conclusion, the owner of Bourjois Kobako will be enveloped in an intoxicating trail of gray amber, musk, and hints of civet. Unveil your true essence with Bourjois Kobako eau de toilette.

The fragrance is exquisite and feminine. It is calm, cozy, not overpowering, but definitely not mediocre. It has a vintage feel with floral and soapy notes. It is interesting and catches attention. You want to wear it, you want to breathe it in. In my opinion, it is perfect for a light autumn chill. Kobako was created in 1936 by Ernest Beaux, the same perfumer who created the legendary aldehydic scent Chanel No.5.
In 1982, there was a reissue. I read somewhere that the pyramid is slightly different, but I don't have the original version, so I am happy with this one. The oval bottle is also of a redesigned design, but the packaging looks quite attractive, undoubtedly in a retro style. Of course, this perfume is not meant for a school-age girl, as this story is more about adult elegance, a formed personality, and so on. Honestly speaking, the scent is not for everyone, but if someone happens to like it, it will be forever.
A classic, cozy, and feminine fragrance that you'll want to breathe in again and again. It combines softness and freshness perfectly. In my opinion, it's ideal for the autumn season leading up to the frosts. Overall, it's in the same direction as Charlie Blue.
I am enchanted by this scent. I purchased it based on reviews. At first, I was hit with a strong powdery scent, but after about three days, the fragrance settled down and became more playful. It is something special. It is very long-lasting. The trail it leaves is amazing, and I have received many compliments. Most importantly, I want to smell like this all the time! I will order another one as a backup or as a gift! By the way, it took a long time to arrive from Europe, about a week. Thank you so much for delivering this wonderful perfume!
Today, I received this fragrance. What can I say? It's a classic! In my opinion, it is magnificent! It has a slight retro touch, but that's what makes it charming. Mysterious, slightly tangy, spicy, but not sweet. I couldn't wait and immediately applied it. I have fallen in love with Kobako!
I liked it. It reminds me of the perfume "Majhi Noir".
Why compare at all?! With Chanel!?
I would like to add a little more to my sister's review about this perfume. It is a good, long-lasting everyday men's cologne! Personally, I would prefer a 15ml bottle. It would be great if the cap could be screwed on so that it can be applied precisely without any strong smell.
This is a true masculine cologne. The glass bottle is beautiful, although it lacks a cap. If they had put more effort into the packaging... Like it used to be: a glass bottle with a matching cap, and a box... It's understandable that the price would be different. I placed my bottle in a dark place, maybe it will smell like perfume (for women).
Kobako is a true treasure in an inconspicuous bottle. It is an absolutely old-school, wonderfully crafted perfume of a delicate apricot color. This is exactly where the phrase "Venus in furs" applies. At the beginning, there are sharp, "frosty and crispy" aldehydes that quickly fade away. I can only slightly detect cinnamon and citrus. It has a slight soapy scent, but not for long. In the heart, iris dominates over all the other flowers, a dusty iris that has powdered rose and lily. I couldn't sense any indolic jasmine at all. And in the base, the "animalic" note is barely noticeable, as the flowers are covered by warm, dry, resinous woods as it settles down. It is a very beautiful, not heavy, warm, and cozy autumn scent. That short period when the Indian summer has passed, the air has noticeably become colder, but the sun is still shining, and the rains and slush haven't arrived yet. If Kobako were poured into fashionable and trendy bottles like those of Shaik or Lolita Lempicka, it would easily sell for $200-250 per bottle and gather enthusiastic reviews. Look at the praises Clive Christian receives! And yet, his No. 1 fragrance is essentially the scent of expensive soap. Apparently, it's all about image...
The fragrance will appeal to fans of Chanel No. 5. It is of the same type, equally bright and intense. It is not a fragrance to drench oneself in; it is better to enter into a cloud of it. Initially, it is sharp and heavy, but after an hour, it interestingly unfolds. You can really sense Ernest B.'s signature in it.
The fragrance created by the Great Ernest Bo cannot be of low quality! He also created Chanel! If Kobako cost as much as Chanel, everyone would be ecstatic! So, rejoice after buying it, as you have touched greatness!
Review of the fragrance Kobako Bourjois.
This fragrance is exquisite and distinctive. It has a long-lasting, trailing scent that is 100% vintage, full-bodied, strong, rich, and ceremonial. It contains hints of burnt wood, cinnamon, and citrus. The purity and elegance of this fragrance are so evident that there is no need to break it down into individual notes. It is a scent with a history, a perfume from the old school, released back in 1936 by the perfumer Ernest Bo. I really liked it, thank you Makeup.
After it rested for a week, I am describing this beauty. The initial notes are bitter, like wormwood, something tart and bright. It gradually transitions into sweetness, the wormwood disappears and a smoky resin, like frankincense, is added, with a lingering tartness. In the final note, a sweet and smoky resin wafts for a long time and with great quality. The longevity is exceptional. Two sprays on my hair at 9 in the morning. In the evening at 10:30, I washed my hair with shampoo and a hair mask, and when I was drying my hair with a towel, the wet strands fell on my face and I could smell the fragrance. I'll repeat what the other girls said – it's a wonderful scent for a mature woman. Luxurious and self-aware. It sounds beautiful and expensive. It surpasses any modern perfumes. I bought it after reading reviews and I don't regret the purchase. The most important thing is to let it settle. When it was just delivered, I sprayed it to test the sprayer and out of curiosity about the legendary fragrance. When I first opened it, there was a smell of vinegar, and I thought I had received an expired product. After three days, the vinegar smell disappeared, and after a week, I can't get enough of it. The bottle is ordinary, the box is not for gifting. Inside, it's beauty and luxury! Now I've ordered a second fragrance from the same brand, and I will definitely write a review about it. For those who love lingering, sweet, ambery, and resinous fragrances like I do, I highly recommend it. You won't regret spending the small amount of money it costs.
Old school, not ecstatic, but worth paying attention to. Designed for mature women.
The scent is wonderful! It smells like spring to me, with the first sticky buds of poplar trees, the first tiny leaves, and the honeyed variety of wild grasses... Ernest Bo is a genius.
Luxurious, evening, aldehydic-cognac, eternal classic. When I read about it in Verigina's memoir book, where she mentioned working with Ernest Beaux (the one who gave the world Chanel No. 5 and 19) on Kobako, I immediately ordered it. It's likely that the fragrance has changed since those times, but one can have no doubt that it is a sample of classic and worthy perfumery. Especially considering its affordable price.
Excellent vintage fragrance, I ordered it here and it's affordable, but it's a legend! Don't rush to write reviews until the scent unfolds, until it settles. I personally enjoyed it, but I'm not a fan of chypre, vetiver, and oud notes. The animalic smells don't bother me, they are definitely not like real animal smells, believe me. The heart note is very long-lasting, with a touch of bitterness, and a pleasant base. I'm writing this review after two months.
The scent is truly mine - cool, rich. I highly recommend it to those who enjoy heavy, lingering perfumes.
Of course, this is a retro fragrance, and it may not suit everyone, I would say, very few people. But I liked it. It is warm, pleasant, peaceful, without any strange annoying notes, it doesn't suffocate. Suitable for everyday wear, and the longevity is decent.
I received it this morning. I sprayed it twice. That's enough for the whole day. It has a sharp, lingering scent that stays close to the body and warms up. In my opinion, this fragrance is only suitable for winter. I don't think young people will appreciate this scent. It's a classic, noble fragrance. The secret lies in the absence of alcohol or cheap water. There are more expensive perfumes out there that sound like air fresheners... but here, I smell cinnamon, citrus, some flowers, and this whole cocktail seems to be simmering on a rich vanilla and "iris-woody" base.
Although the scent didn't suit me, I cannot deny that it is excellent. Even though it belongs to the "mass-market" category, it smells quite expensive. I haven't tried vintage "Kobako," but even in its updated release, you can feel the "old school" vibe. I think vintage perfume lovers will enjoy it. In the bouquet, you can sense aldehydes, the first note is quite sharp, but as the scent unfolds, it becomes sweet and soft, without any cloying honey-like notes.
