In 2013, the elite British brand Jaguar released the Classic Gold Eau de Toilette, created by the world-famous perfumer Dominique Preyssas. Its woody-fougere composition is for sophisticated men, emphasising their status and ambition.
The olfactory pyramid of Jaguar Classic Gold Eau de Toilette:
Top notes reveal fresh citrus accords of bergamot and lime intertwined with juicy apple nuances.
Heart notes are woven from sweet orange blossom and teak wood shades.
Base notes create a sensual trail of spicy vanilla, earthy musk, and smoky patchouli undertones.
This is the second Jaguar fragrance I've owned after "Prive." I was pleasantly surprised by how great it turned out to be, and I even managed to snag it at a nice discount. From the photos, I always thought the bottle was made of metal and glass, but in reality, it's a combination of plastic and glass. It looks great, though sometimes I worry it might break. All these bottles are made by Lalique, and they used to be of very high quality. Nowadays, it seems they're cutting costs where they can. Nonetheless, the bottle is cool, and this fragrance makes for an excellent gift.
Now, about the scent itself. It’s sweet and spicy. If anyone remembers the aroma and taste of Mikado plum wine, this is quite similar, except it features apple instead of plum. Some people detect a pear note and compare it to the Duchess variety, but to me, it smells like the apple compote from my childhood—when it was jarred in three-liter jars and was incredibly sweet, with apples that practically melted in your mouth. The scent and flavor are vividly expressed.
Looking at the "Classic Gold" fragrance pyramid, you can imagine an apple preserved in the juice of orange, lime, and bergamot. Although vanilla isn't listed in the description, the sweetness is so pronounced that it gives off a vanilla-like scent. It might be simpler than that. The description mentions teakwood, which should smell like old leather. Perhaps this refined old leather aroma adds such a pleasant note to this fragrance.
The scent might seem simple, lacking a complex pyramid, yet it's still intriguing. If there's a discount, you can buy it without hesitation, as long as the notes suit you. It's a heavy, sweet, lingering fragrance, ideal for the colder months. It might feel a bit overwhelming if you’re used to fresh scents. It's marketed as a men's fragrance because it lacks floral notes, but it's sweet enough to be considered unisex.
It's hard to compare it to anything other than Hugo Boss "Bottled," but I also own Karl Lagerfeld "Bois d´Ambre," and I keep them side by side like twins. Both are woody, both have citrus notes, but one features apple and the other plum. They complement each other beautifully.
I bought this blindly based on the reviews. I love sweet scents with woody and floral notes. However, this fragrance is terrible. In my opinion, it is a complete unisex fragrance that even women will love. It smells like a sweet syrupy candy with a hint of vanilla. It is overpoweringly sweet. I cannot detect any notes of apple or wood, neither at the beginning nor in the middle. After exhaling (around 3 hours), it leaves a barely noticeable pleasant sweetness on the skin. It lasts a bit longer and stronger on clothes. It reminded me of Avon Little Black Dress. I do not recommend it for men, but women will enjoy it.
The fragrance is a bomb. I bought it on sale just to test it out. It didn't disappoint. It's slightly sweet, but not overwhelming. In my opinion, the packaging and bottle are well-designed. This perfume is not embarrassing to give as a gift.
In my opinion, it's good for cool weather. It warms you up. It attracts. It leaves a subtle trail.
It's understandable that everyone has their own truth. Yes, it doesn't have a huge trail. It doesn't have a bright, nauseating burst of fragrance. But it's a gentle and tender perfume. Perhaps it can be compared to the feeling when peonies bloom in spring and the first delicate scent appears. That's how Jaguar is. A delicate and tender aroma. Overall, I highly recommend it in this price range. Price <> quality <> pleasure.
Durable like all Jaguars. An uncomplicated sweet fougère, an unusual combination. If you want to smell like tiramisu, then this one is for you! Such fragrances are purchased by women for their men.
I bought it as a gift for my husband, and it's great, he really liked it. They are durable and of excellent quality.
